Abstract: Utilizing spatial syntax theory and field research, this study employs AutoCAD and Depthmap software to analyze the morphological variables of Hongtuan Village and Zhangtuan Village. By examining these two villages, the research aims to elucidate the spatial characteristics and inherent socio-cultural aspects of traditional "Nine Dragons Around a Pearl" villages, thereby validating the rationality and effectiveness of this planning approach in the construction of traditional village spatial forms. Based on the current conditions of the villages, feasible suggestions are proposed to optimize the spatial layout of traditional villages. The results indicate that both Hongtuan Village and Zhangtuan Village exhibit high integration within their interiors, with the main axis being the most trafficked and well-connected space, demonstrating good accessibility. Conversely, the connection between the village periphery and its interior is relatively weak, which somewhat hinders the overall development of the villages. The comprehensibility of both villages is low, making it difficult to gain a clear understanding of the overall spatial structure from one part. Based on the spatial syntax analysis results, optimization strategies for the spatial morphology of Hongtuan Village and Zhangtuan Village are proposed from the perspectives of restoring street texture, protecting spatial landscapes, and revitalizing public spaces.
