Abstract: In order to construct the community imagination of anti-epidemic memory, medical documentaries under the national discourse system are constantly emerging. With its gritty but powerful image style, The Chinese Doctor gives a panoramic picture of the epidemic. By applying the theory of cultural memory to re-examine the rhetoric mode of the film, we can find the unique features of The Chinese Doctor in terms of memory practice, narrative structure and symbol extraction. At the same time, the documentary intervenes in the current history with a reconstructed cultural memory, projecting the care of the whole society to the medical group. In addition, the identity constructed after memory narration also occupies the topic advantage in the "anti-epidemic" talk, which provides new methods and approaches for the production of medical documentaries and creates a new landscape of official discourse communication.
