Abstract: Based on the theory of regional competitiveness, this paper constructs a quantitative evaluation index system of regional comprehensive competitiveness from two dimensions of "soft power" and "hard power", extracts economic comprehensive factors, education, science and technology factors and residents忆 living standard factors by factor analysis, and makes an empirical evaluation and analysis of regional comprehensive competitiveness of 16 prefecture-level cities in Anhui Province by entropy method. It is found that there is a wide gap in the comprehensive competitiveness of different regions in Anhui Province, and the polarization is obvious; The top-ranking cities are near the provincial capital, and the overall ranking is stable. The top-ranking cities perform better on "hard power" than on "soft power", while those at the bottom are the opposite. At the same time, the study finds out the main factors that restrict regional development, and puts forward suggestions, to narrow regional development differences, enhance comprehensive competitiveness, and accelerate regional coordination, integration, and high-quality development.

Key words: comprehensive competitiveness, entropy weight factor method, regional integration, evaluation index system
