During the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Communist Party of China （CPC） placed great emphasis on knowledge learning as a crucial task to elevate the overall education level in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region. However, some cadres and soldiers feared difficulties and became lax, and some even questioned the significance of knowledge learning. To guide the trend of knowledge learning, Jiefang Daily in Yan’an extensively reported on knowledge learning models, portraying them as individuals who valued learning, employed appropriate methods in practice, and balanced study and work in their daily lives. Besides detailing their deeds, Jiefang Daily also emphasized discourse expression by interpreting these model deeds. The knowledge learning models reported by Jiefang Daily depicted the learning landscape of the Party, government, military, and civilians in the ShaanxiGansu-Ningxia border region during the War of Resistance Against Japan. This historical narrative provides invaluable insights for the current construction of a "learning-oriented party".
