二十世纪六、七十年代，民主四队组织社员以“出外找副业”的形式，从事以林业务工为主要内容的集体副业生产。生产队积极利用副业生产的内外有利因素，加强对副业生产人员的组织管理和副业收入管理，形成了较为系统的管理制度，从而保证了副业生产持续稳定发展，副业生产逐渐成为农业生产之外生产队重要的生产经营活动。在集体化时代乡村以农为主的经济结构中，副业生产扩大了生产队生产经营范围，吸纳了生产队剩余劳动力，为生产队和社员家庭增加了新的收入来源，是山区生产队因地因时制宜地走出农业劳动“过密化”的积极探索，一定程度上也是集体化时代中国农村社会经济变迁的缩影。

During the 1960s and 1970s, the Democratic Fourth Brigade in She County, Anhui organized its members to engage in collective sideline businesses, primarily in forestry. The brigade effectively leveraged both internal and external advantages in sideline production, enhancing the organizational and financial management of its sideline workforce. This led to the establishment of a comprehensive management system, which ensured the continuous and stable growth of sideline activities. These activities became a significant aspect of the brigade's operations beyond traditional agriculture. In the collectivized rural economy, which was predominantly agricultural, sideline production broadened the brigade's operational scope, absorbed surplus labor, and created new income sources for both the brigade and its members' families. This initiative represents a proactive approach to alleviating the "over-intensification" of agricultural labor in mountainous brigades and reflects broader socio-economic transformations in rural China during the era of collectivization.
